Honolulu Marathon (Training begins June 14, 2008)
Grass skirts, flower leis, warm ocean breezes. Where else would you want to be in December? More than 25,000 runners will take part in the 36th annual Honolulu Marathon. You'll run past tropical landscapes and beautiful beaches while thousands of supporters cheer you on. AIDS Marathoners who meet the fundraising requirement will receive roundtrip airfare and three nights hotel accommodations in Waikiki as well as free guaranteed race entry. Participants are asked to raise $3,200 by
September 19, 2008. Group training runs are available on Saturday mornings in Santa Monica and Sunday mornings in Griffith Park. We hope you'll join us.
It may be the best thing you do for yourself (and others!) this year, and your life will never be the same.
Fundraising Requirement
Each participant will be asked to raise funds of between $1,600 and $3,200 depending upon the event for which they choose to train. We know this sounds like a lot of money, but we'll show you how to do it. Our experienced staff has already helped 20,000 people raise $80 million. They'll be there every step of the way to help you successfully reach the goal. Fundraising Tools
Special Note
Many marathons have time limits. The course of the Los Angeles Marathon will reopen to traffic at approximately a 13 minute per mile pace, however, slower runners may continue by moving to the sidewalk. While the Honolulu Marathon has no official time lime, you must be able to maintain a 17 minute per mile training pace in order to participate in our program. If you can currently run/walk three miles in 48 minutes or less, you will likely be able to complete one of these events with proper training.
